Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

Our therapists work with clients in exposing them to situations, thoughts and objects that trigger anxiety and support them making the choice not to perform the compulsive behavior. While facing our fears can be scary and overwhelming, we know that this is the best way to reduce and do away with our anxiety around the things that we fear.

Family Therapy, Parent Consultation and SPACE.

Family Therapy - Understanding that the family system is complex and ever changing, we work from a family systems approach. We work collaboratively with families to develop a better understanding of how their family system functions and the things that might be getting in the way of relationships and contributing to “feeling stuck.” We will assist a family in identifying the unproductive communication patterns, as well as unhealthy behavioral patterns within their system, we then work to alter those patterns by learning more productive ways of communicating and solving problems.

Parent Consultation - During parent consultations, we collaborate with parents to develop immediate strategies to address the parenting challenges that they are facing as well as help parents to better understand the needs of their child.

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions - We have SPACE trained therapists on our team. SPACE is a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety and or OCD. Although children do not have to attend SPACE sessions - they are the patients!

Parallel Parent–Child Therapy - One of the things we are most proud of in our practice—and what truly sets us apart—is our collaborative care approach. Rather than working in isolation, we intentionally structure treatment so that both the child (or young adult) and their parents are supported simultaneously, often by different providers within our team.

In many cases, parents work with one clinician to learn approaches such as SPACE or parent coaching, while their child works with another clinician on ERP, skill-building, and strategies to manage anxiety and related emotions. This parallel process allows each member of the family to focus on their role in meaningful change, while staying aligned in shared goals.

Our therapists maintain close, ongoing communication with one another, allowing for real-time updates, coordination, and adjustments to care. This level of collaboration ensures that treatment remains cohesive and responsive to the family’s needs.

This model is effective across a wide range of concerns, including child anxiety and OCD, school refusal, and young adult “failure to launch.” By addressing both individual challenges and family dynamics at the same time, we are able to support more meaningful and lasting change.

We consistently see that when each part of the system is actively engaged in their work, families move through therapy more efficiently and with more durable results.

We offer skills based groups for anxiety and body image. Group participants learn Cognitive Behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy and Mindfulness tools to address stress and anxiety.

Young Adult Group - Many young adults are nervous about reengaging, out of practice socially, and struggling with new or ongoing mental health challenges.

This 4-week, in-person group will offer a small group of 18-22 year-olds an opportunity to:

  • Connect with other young adults who are in a similar life stage

  • Practice social skills and prep for “re-entry” into the world

  • Learn tools (based in cognitive-behavioral therapy) to manage anxiety and depression symptoms

The group will be in-person, socially distanced and masks are required. The group will meet outside at our Mill Valley office.
